SEG Core — managed IT, cyber security and access control. One contractor · one number.
Home / Security Systems

CCTV, access control and door entry — on the network we built.

Cloud-managed cameras, access control and intercom designed, installed and maintained by the same team that runs your IT — with the electrical work included.

Security systems

What we install

Physical security is a network application now. Treating it as one is why ours works better.

CCTV & video surveillance

Cloud-managed IP cameras with remote viewing, sensible retention and no dusty DVR nobody knows the password to.

  • Cloud-managed IP CCTV
  • Remote and mobile viewing
  • Retention to suit policy
  • ANPR and specialist cameras

Access control

Door controllers, readers and credentials managed centrally, with joiners and leavers handled in the same process as their IT accounts.

  • Card, fob and mobile credentials
  • Central management
  • Starter/leaver integration
  • Audit trail and reporting

Door entry & intercom

Audio and video entry for offices, sites and multi-tenant buildings, integrated with the access system rather than sitting beside it.

  • Video door entry
  • Multi-tenant systems
  • Mobile answering
  • Integration with access control

Integration

Cameras, doors, network and IT identity working as one system — so an access event and a camera clip land together, not in two portals.

  • Unified management
  • Event and video correlation
  • Single sign-on where supported
  • Network segmentation for devices

Electrical & containment

Power, containment, cabling and certification — the parts an IT company subcontracts and a security company charges a premium for.

  • Power and fused spurs
  • Containment and cable routes
  • NICEIC-certified works
  • Working at height

Maintenance & support

Planned maintenance visits, firmware management and a support line that covers the cameras and the network they run on.

  • Planned maintenance
  • Firmware and patch management
  • Fault response
  • Footage export support
How it works

How a security install runs

Same discipline as a network project, because that's what it is.

1

Site survey

We walk the site: camera positions and sightlines, door hardware, cable routes, power and network capacity.

2

Design

Camera and reader schedule, network and PoE plan, retention calculation, and a fixed price against the design.

3

Install

Cameras, doors, cabling, containment and power installed by our own engineers, with the electrical certification included.

4

Handover

Systems commissioned, users trained, credentials issued, as-built documentation and certificates handed over.

The kit

What goes on the wall

Cloud-managed Verkada hardware — readers, cameras, visitor management and alarms — installed and commissioned by our own engineers.

Why SEG Core

What makes this different

One contractor for the whole job

Cameras, cabling, containment, power and the network — no coordinating three suppliers around one install date.

Cloud-managed, not DVR-managed

Remote access, automatic firmware updates and no on-site recorder to fail quietly for six months.

Joined to your IT process

A leaver loses their door credential the same day they lose their email account, because it's the same process.

Designed for the network load

Cameras placed on segmented VLANs with bandwidth and PoE budget calculated properly, not bolted onto the office network.

Electrically certified

NICEIC-accredited works with certificates issued — which matters for insurance and for landlords.

Supported by people who answer

The same helpdesk and the same response targets as the rest of your services.

FAQ

Common questions

How long do we have to keep CCTV footage?
There's no fixed legal retention period in the UK — under UK GDPR you keep footage only as long as necessary for the purpose you collected it for, and you should document that decision. Thirty days is a common starting point for commercial premises. We'll size storage around whatever you set.
Do we need to register with the ICO for CCTV?
If you operate CCTV for business purposes you are processing personal data, so in most cases you need to be registered with the ICO, display appropriate signage and have a policy covering retention and access requests. We'll help you get the documentation right.
Can you integrate with our existing cameras?
Sometimes. Standards-based IP cameras can often be brought into a modern platform; older analogue or proprietary systems usually can't. We'll assess and tell you honestly what's reusable.
What happens when someone leaves?
On a managed agreement, revoking a door credential is part of the same offboarding process as disabling their email and reclaiming their laptop — one request, everything closed the same day.
Do cameras slow down our network?
Not if they're designed in properly. Cameras go on their own segment with bandwidth and PoE budget calculated in advance. Problems arise when they're plugged into whatever port was free.
Can you take over maintenance of a system someone else installed?
Often, yes. We'll survey what's there, tell you what condition it's in and quote either maintenance or replacement — whichever is actually justified.
