The challenge
Refeyn makes life-science technology and was growing fast across three Oxford sites — new labs, new mezzanine floors and a US expansion in planning. The system left by its previous provider was unreliable and poorly supported, which is the last thing a business needs when it is scaling at that speed.
What we did
We designed each site around its own layout and risks, then worked alongside Refeyn's construction teams during live building works at Littlemore, re-sequencing our programme as the build changed. The finished estate runs more than 50 cameras and 35 access-controlled doors from one cloud console, which the US sites can join later with no additional infrastructure.
- Central Oxford: 9 cameras, 5 doors
- Littlemore, site 2: 18 cameras, 13 doors
- Littlemore, site 3: 23 cameras, 17 doors
The outcome
The real test of a security partner is what happens when something breaks. When a controller failed and caused a brief outage, a SEG Core engineer was on site the same day. Refeyn has since confirmed SEG Core as its preferred partner for the US deployments.
