The challenge
The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead runs a 160-metre real-snow slope that draws thousands of skiers and snowboarders a year. In a venue like that, incidents and near-misses have to be captured clearly for health and safety reviews and insurance — and the old system couldn't do it. Its low-resolution cameras struggled with the glare of the snow and the darker areas around it, recording was unreliable, and nobody could view it remotely.
What we did
We assessed every camera position, blind spot and lighting condition with the operations and safety teams, then replaced the system with 4K cameras that cope with bright snow and dark edges in the same frame. Coverage now runs across the main and lesson slopes, the lift stations, the Lodge Bar and Kitchen, equipment hire, reception and every public area — plus a live feed of the main slope into the Lodge Bar for guests to watch.
The outcome
The venue now has footage it can rely on for health and safety investigations and insurance, available remotely at any time, and an operations team confident that every part of the slope is covered.
